ABOUT US

Gold Coast Sri Lankans’ Association
The Gold Coast Sri Lankan Association of Queensland (GCSLA) is a growing and vibrant community representing Sri Lankans who call the Gold Coast home. Established in 2018, the association is dedicated to fostering Sri Lankan culture and heritage, creating a strong sense of connection, community, and belonging for all generations.

Our Mission
Our mission is to enrich the lives of all Sri Lankan living on the Gold Coast by creating meaningful opportunities to celebrate and preserve Sri Lankan heritage. Through cultural knowledge, traditional practices, and community events, we ensure that future generations remain connected to their roots and identity.

Our Vision
We aim to be a pillar of strength and support for the Sri Lankan community in the Gold Coast—fostering unity, promoting shared values, and celebrating the richness of Sri Lankan culture in a multicultural Australian context.

OUR TEAM

At the beginning of each year, our annual general meeting provides the platform for electing a new committee. As volunteers, we dedicate our time and energy, empowered by our members, to build upon past successes and achieve even greater outcomes.

WHAT WE DO

We brings our community together through culture, celebration, support and solidarity. We host three flagship events each year Sri Lankan New Year, an Annual Cricket Tournament and an End‑of‑Year Gala—that unite members of all ages in vibrant festivities.

CULTURAL FESTIVALS AND MAJOUR EVENTS
We celebrate Sri Lankan New Year traditions every April, with games, rituals and communal meals that reflect Sri Lanka’s heritage.

Our Annual Cricket Tournament brings together players and spectators for healthy competition and camaraderie on the field.

We cap off the year with a Gala Night complete with dinner, dance and live music to honour our achievements and look ahead to the new year.

CELEBRATING ELDERS AND SENIORS
We are proud to support the monthly gatherings of our senior citizens, attentively addressing their welfare and needs as a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the invaluable contributions they have made to our community.

At every gathering, seniors are honoured by being invited to assume leadership roles and undertake special tasks during our cultural celebrations.

Their wisdom and stories enrich our events, fostering intergenerational connections and deepening respect within the community.

NURTURING CHILDREN AND YOUTH
The Association contributes to the growth and enrichment of our children and youth by encouraging their participation in ceremonial and cultural events.

Young members showcase traditional dance, music and storytelling, building confidence, creativity and a strong sense of cultural identity.

SUPPORTING NEW ARRIVALS
We assist newly arrived Sri Lankans to get their feet on the ground by offering post‑arrival orientation, advice on finding suitable accommodation, and one‑on‑one support to settle into life on the Gold Coast.

We help newcomers build networks and feel at home in their new community.

COMMUNITY SOLIDARITY AND SUPPORT
Beyond festivities, we aim to provide financial assistance and moral support to members facing hardship whether due to natural disasters, economic challenges or personal crises.

By rallying around those in need, we ensure no Sri Lankan on the Gold Coast feels alone or left behind.
